September 12 – Angel Island was the West Coast’s equivalent
of Ellis Island, processing hundreds of thousands of immigrants. Learn about
its history and records www.aiisf.org.
I have to admit, this is the first I have heard of this
place. Perhaps because they dealt with a lot of Asian immigrants (not all) and
I don’t have any Asian immigrants. This immigration port operated between 1910
and 1940 and they did not only deal with Asian Immigrants, thus if you can’t
find the port of entry for your immigrant, this port is worth checking out.
