October 8 – Those of Polish, Slovak and other Eastern
European descent celebrate National Pierogi Day today. Find and try a pierogi
recipe.
My husband’s family is of Polish descent, in fact his
grandfather was the immigrant ancestor who came here from Poland. I remember
the first pierogi I ever had was when attending his sister’s wedding. It was in
Chicago, and the entire 7 course meal was Polish cuisine. Having been raised on
a lot of German/Irish cuisine, I saw many similarities. This was by far, the
best meal I ever ate in my entire life.
Remember to have fun and Just do Genealogy!
