My software program, Family Tree Maker has a Timeline view that allows me to see a biographical outline for any person in my tree. I can even print out that timeline. If you are using Family Tree Maker, have you checked out this feature? If you are using a different software package, does it have a similar feature. Perhaps you find writing the information down on the template very useful. Do what you find is the best for you.
