The Year Ahead – March 14

In the January/February 2024 issue of Family Tree Magazine, they have introduced The Year Ahead, 366 genealogy tips will make 2024 your best research year yet by Lisa A Alzo. Lisa mapped out a day-by-day research plan.

March 14 – Pick an ancestral state and explore its state archives or library website. Keep an eye out for county histories, research tips, and record collections and indexes.

My current state is also my ancestral state and I have been fortunate enough to visit the Wisconsin Historical Library. There are so many holdings and I was able to view those holdings before I took a road trip to the library. I read up on what was allowed in the library, drinks or food. I made sure I had enough material that I wanted to check out before my visit, so that my trip was one that was worthwhile to take.
