plan.
August 8 – Check for free record collections on
Ancestry.com, Findmypast and MyHeritage. See if your library subscribes to
institutional versions of any.
For many years, I only used the free record collections or
the “free” weekends that some of these sites offered. I would gather lots of
various documents and then spend time after the “free” weekends to review all
the documents that I collected. Later, I visited my local library to access
their library subscriptions to various genealogy websites. When I taught
classes in genealogy, I always recommend the free records and websites first,
then as you get further in your research, paying for subscriptions will be more
beneficial.
Remember to have fun and Just do Genealogy!
