July 25 – Work smarter and faster by using computer keyboard shortcuts. Search the help menu in your software program, or grab our cheat sheet www.familytreemagazine.com/freebie/free-computer-keyboard-shortcuts-guide.
You will have to provide your email, but trust me when I say, that the information I get from Family Tree Magazine’s emails are very useful. I find that I use keyboard shortcuts less and less today than I use to. Some of these features are just as easy to find by clicking the right button on your mouse. However, I still use the shortcuts for copy, cut and paste often.
One shortcut that has changed for me with my new computer is the Print Screen function (I have no button on my current keyboard) which is now the Windows key + Shift + S. This brings up the snipping tool. It’s very helpful if you have a drop-down menu option selected, when I select the snipping tool icon on my desktop, it sometimes closes these drop-down menu options. While, the shortcut doesn’t and then I can copy and paste into a how-to-do document.
